There is No “Right” Marketing Strategy
(…and believing there is might holding you back)

There’s a belief many business owners carry quietly in the background.

That somewhere out there, there’s a “right” marketing strategy. A clear path. A proven formula. A set of steps you can follow that will finally make everything click.

And if you could just find it… things would feel easier.

But what I see time and time again is this:

That search is often the very thing keeping you stuck.

In this episode of The Art of Value Whispering Podcast, I’m inviting you to gently let go of that idea.

Because there isn’t one perfect strategy waiting for you.

There’s only the one that fits you. And that comes from within.

And when you find it, that changes everything.

If your marketing has ever felt harder than it should… or like you’re constantly trying to make something fit that just doesn’t quite land… this episode will help you understand why.

The Myth That Keeps You Searching

It’s an easy idea to believe.

That there’s a strategy out there that works… and your job is simply to find it.

Especially when what you’re currently doing isn’t bringing the results you hoped for.

Because it gives you something to hold onto.

A sense that the gap between where you are and where you want to be is just one missing piece.

But the moment you believe that, your focus shifts away from yourself.

You start looking outward.

Trying. Testing. Tweaking.

Following advice that sounds convincing in the moment.

And each time it doesn’t quite work, it doesn’t just feel frustrating.

It feels personal.

Like maybe you’re the problem.

But you’re not.

You’re simply trying to follow something that was never built for you in the first place.

When Your Marketing Stops Feeling Like You

This is often where things begin to feel heavy.

You try one approach… then another… then layer something else on top because you’ve been told you “should.”

A new platform.
A different message.
Maybe a new tactic that promises faster results.

And before long, your marketing starts to feel a little disconnected.

Like you’re holding lots of pieces… but they don’t quite fit together.

It reminds me of those early children’s art projects.

Lots of colour. Lots of effort.
Bits added here and there because they seem like a good idea at the time.

But no real sense of cohesion.

No clear flow from one part to the next.

And when that happens, the natural instinct is to add more.

To try harder.

To fix it by doing something else.

But more doesn’t create clarity.

In fact, it usually takes you further away from it.

What Aligned Marketing Actually Looks Like

The kind of marketing that truly works is much quieter than that.

More intentional.
More considered.

And often… much simpler than you expect.

It’s not about layering more on top.

It’s about stepping back and asking a better question:

What actually makes sense here?

When your marketing is aligned, it feels cohesive.

There’s a natural flow to it.

Each part connects to the next in a way that feels logical… and human.

I often think of it like a single-line drawing.

Nothing is added for the sake of it.

Every part has a purpose.

And together, it creates something that feels complete.

That’s what you’re building.

Not something complicated.

Something clear.

“Your marketing is not a funnel. It’s a relationship.” — Melitta Campbell

A Relationship, Not a Process

When you really step back and look at it, your marketing isn’t a system to push people through.

It’s the beginning of a relationship.

Someone discovers you.

They start to recognise themselves in what you’re saying.

They feel understood.

And over time, they begin to trust that you might be able to help them.

That journey doesn’t happen because you’ve followed a set of steps.

It happens because of how you show up within those steps.

The tone you use.
The clarity of your message.
The way you make someone feel when they encounter your work.

That’s what builds connection.

And that’s something no off-the-shelf strategy can replicate.

Because relationships are always personal.

Where It All Begins: Your Value Sweet Spot

So if you’re not following someone else’s strategy… where do you begin?

You begin with your Value Sweet Spot.

This is the point where two things meet.

Who you are – your strengths, your perspective, your way of working.
And what your clients truly need – not just on the surface, but underneath that too.

When you understand both sides of that clearly, something shifts.

Your marketing stops feeling generic.

And starts to feel grounded.

Because it’s coming from a place that is genuinely yours.

From there, your strategy doesn’t need to be forced.

It starts to take shape naturally.

The Signs You’re on the Right Track

There isn’t a checklist for this.

But there are moments you’ll start to notice.

Someone reads your content and reaches out to say:

“That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling.”

“It’s like you’ve put words to something I couldn’t explain.”

“I feel like you really get me.”

That’s when you know something is landing.

Because your message is resonating.

And that resonance is what creates trust.

Why “More” Often Leads You Off Track

When things aren’t working, the advice you’ll often hear is simple.

Do more.

Be more visible.
Be on more platforms.
Create more content.

But more isn’t always the answer.

Especially if it pulls you further away from what feels natural and sustainable.

Because consistency isn’t about showing up everywhere.

It’s about showing up in a way that feels true… again and again.

And that can happen in one place, just as powerfully as it can in many.

Trusting What Feels Right

This is where your own judgement matters most.

Because not all advice is wrong.

But not all of it is right for you.

And there’s a difference.

You’ll often feel it before you can explain it.

Something might sound like a good idea… but feel slightly off.

Forced.
Heavy.
Out of alignment with how you naturally work.

That’s worth paying attention to.

Because when your marketing doesn’t feel right, it becomes harder to sustain.

And over time, that leads to either burnout… or stopping altogether.

But when it does feel right…

It feels lighter.

More natural.

Something you can keep showing up for.

And that’s where real momentum begins.

A Final Thought to Reflect On

There isn’t one marketing strategy waiting for you to discover it.

There’s only the one you create.

One that reflects your value.
One that resonates with your clients.
One that feels like a natural extension of how you already serve.

So instead of asking:

“What should I be doing?”

Try asking:

What would feel true and effective for me… and for the people I want to support?

Because that’s where your real strategy begins.
