Create Marketing That Fits You and Feels Natural

Lately, I’ve been noticing something in the conversations I’m having with business owners.

More and more people are quietly admitting that the way they’re currently marketing doesn’t feel good anymore. It feels forced, complicated, or heavier than it should be. And instead of creating momentum, it’s draining their energy.

For many of us — especially those who are introverted or thoughtful by nature — success doesn’t come from being everywhere or pushing ourselves into strategies that feel unnatural. It comes from choosing approaches that honour how we work, think and communicate.

In this episode of The Art of Value Whispering podcast, I share what I see most often when someone’s marketing feels “off,” why it happens, and how you can rebuild a strategy that fits you far better and attracts more of the right clients.

I’ll walk you through the signs of misalignment and the practical steps you can take to create visibility that feels lighter, clearer and much more sustainable.

If you’ve been wondering whether marketing can feel easier, this episode will give you a new way to think about it.

Why Strategy Fit Matters

I often hear business owners say, “marketing just feels hard for me.”

But in most cases, the challenge isn’t the marketing itself — it’s the method.

A strategy only works when it suits:

  • your energy

  • your personality

  • your strengths

  • your lifestyle

  • your current season of life

If you’re an introvert, daily live video will exhaust you.

If writing isn’t your natural way of expressing yourself, long-form content will feel like a slog. If you have limited time, high-volume content strategies won’t be sustainable.

When your approach doesn’t match how you naturally operate, everything takes more energy and more time, and it becomes tempting to assume you’re simply “not good at marketing.”

But you’re not the problem, the strategy is, when you find an approach that genuinely fits you, consistency becomes so much easier.

Three Clear Signs Your Marketing Is Misaligned

Here are the three signs I see most often when someone is using a strategy that doesn’t suit them.

1. You avoid marketing or put it off.
You know you need to create something, but every part of you resists getting started.

You sit down, open your laptop, and… nothing.

This isn’t procrastination — it’s your mind signalling misalignment.

2. You feel overwhelmed or scattered.
You’re trying lots of things — reels, posts, newsletters, ideas — but nothing feels cohesive.

You feel like you’re missing a piece, yet you’re not sure what it is.
Overwhelm usually comes from a lack of clarity, not a lack of ability.

3. Your messaging feels flat or like someone else’s.
You’re posting, but it doesn’t sound like you.

You’re trying to be more energetic or more “punchy” because you think you should.

If your voice feels diluted or unnatural, the strategy or delivery method is off.

If these resonate, it’s not a sign you’ve failed. It’s simply a sign you need a different approach.

“Marketing flows more easily when it’s built around your strengths instead of the strategies you think you’re supposed to use.” – Melitta Campbell

Rebuild Your Strategy from Your Value Sweetspot

When marketing feels hard, the solution is never to “do more.”

It’s to return to your Value Sweetspot — the intersection between:

  • what makes your work meaningful and uniquely yours, and

  • what your ideal clients deeply want and need.

Your strengths might be empathy, clarity, deep thinking or thoughtfulness. Your clients may be craving guidance that is calm, grounded and steady.

When you build from this place, everything becomes easier:

  • your message

  • your platforms

  • your pace

  • your style

  • your magnetism

Hype-driven strategies won’t work if they’re not who you are. But quiet, consistent, aligned marketing will.

When you start from your Value Sweetspot, the right strategy becomes obvious.

You Don’t Need to Be Everywhere

One of the most common misconceptions is that visibility requires volume. It doesn’t.

You don’t need to post on every platform — you just need one aligned place where you can show up consistently.

If you love writing, lean into LinkedIn, your blog or a newsletter.

If you love conversations, focus on podcasts or joint conversations.

If you enjoy teaching, run workshops or events.

Most of the clients you want to attract don’t need you to be everywhere.

They just need you to show up in a way that feels genuine and meaningful.

Alignment leads to resonance — and resonance leads to clients.

Your Strategy Must Support Your Life

Marketing should fit into your life, not compete with it.

If you only have a few hours a week, choose formats you can batch.

If you’re raising young children, short-form content might work better.

If you’re in a busy season, simplify rather than expand.

Your strategy should grow with you as your life shifts.

Mine certainly has — from the early days with small children to the more spacious season I’m in now.

There is no “one right way” — only the way that supports you today.

A Final Thought to Reflect On

If your marketing feels heavy, overwhelming or disconnected, it doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It simply means the approach isn’t supporting you.

So instead of asking, “How can I push myself to do more?” try asking, “what would marketing look like if it actually felt like me?”

That question alone can open a completely different path — one that feels clearer, calmer and far more aligned with the business you want to build.
