How to Be a Guest on More Podcasts
And why your voice matters more than you think
There’s something I’ve been noticing more and more lately.
Not just in my work. But in the conversations I’m having behind the scenes.
Women are doing incredible work.
Building meaningful businesses, and
Creating real impact.
And yet… their voices are not being heard in the spaces that shape opportunities.
In this episode of The Art of Value Whispering Podcast, I’m exploring something both practical and important:
Why more women need to be guesting on podcasts.
And how to actually make that happen.
Because visibility is not about being louder.
It’s about being understood, trusted, and present in the conversations that matter.
If you’ve ever thought: “I’d love to be on a podcast… but I don’t know where to start.”
This episode will show you a clear, grounded way forward.

Why Podcast Guesting Matters More Than You Think
Podcasting is a very different kind of visibility.
Unlike social media, where people scroll quickly and often half-listen…
Podcast listeners choose to be there.
They give you their time.
Their attention.
And often, their trust.
When you’re invited onto a podcast, you are stepping into a space where:
• The audience already trusts the host
• They are open to listening deeply
• And they are far more likely to engage with your ideas
This creates something powerful that goes beyond visibility.
It creates connection.
And that is where your value is truly heard, understood and can make a positive difference, making podcasting one of the most effective ways to share a meaningful message.
So Why Aren’t More Women Doing It?
This is the question that really stayed with me.
Because when I looked closer, the barriers weren’t about ability. And with few time and travel commitments involved, there are few things standing in the way of more women guesting on podcasts.
When I reached out to my community to ask what is holding them back, there were three common themes:
1. “I don’t know how to pitch”
There’s a belief that pitching is complicated or uncomfortable. So it gets avoided.
2. “I don’t know where to find podcasts”
Without a clear starting point, it feels overwhelming.
3. “I’m not quite ready yet”
This one is quieter. But powerful. Waiting until you feel fully ready… often means waiting far too long.
And underneath all of this however, there lies a deeper problem.
As women don’t always see themselves represented.
They don’t naturally step forward.
Which makes it all the more important, that more women muster the courage to apply to guest on podcasts, as this will encourage more women to do the same.
“Visibility compounds visibility, the more we step forward, the easier it becomes for others to do the same.” — Melitta Campbell
Visibility Builds Visibility
There’s something important to understand here.
Visibility is not a one-time action. It compounds.
The more women step forward, the more normal it becomes, the easier it is for others to do the same. And we need more female voices in the world right now.
So your courage and decision to be a podcast guest isn’t just about gaining more visibility and growing your business.
It’s about sparking a wider conversation.
You Don’t Need to Be “Ready”
This is one of the biggest myths I want to gently challenge.
You don’t become ready first.
You become ready through doing it.
If you wait until you feel completely confident, you will wait a very long time. Because confidence happens as a result of action, it doesn't come first.
Instead, think of this as a progression:
Start with smaller podcasts, and then build towards larger platforms over time as your message crystalises and your confidence grows.
Each conversation helps you:
• Refine your message
• Strengthen your confidence
• Understand what resonates
• Build your brand and reputation
And that is how momentum builds.
The Smarter Way to Approach Podcast Guesting
It’s logical to jump in and start pitching. But that’s not the best approach in my experience. Here’s a more aligned way to approach this.
1. Start with the right podcasts
Look for shows your ideal clients already listen to.
Not just the biggest shows.
The most relevant ones.
2. Build a connection first
Get to know the podcast host and show structure first by listening to some episodes. And, if you enjoy the show, leave a thoughtful review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
You can also consider sharing their content with your social media audience. This is not about tactics, but about showing respect, connection and genuine interest.
3. Be clear on your message
This is where most pitches fall down.
Not because people lack expertise, but because they are too vague about what they would
Instead of saying:
“I can talk about business”
Say:
“I can share three ways introverted founders can communicate their value clearly and attract better clients.”
Clarity builds confidence.
And makes it easy for a host to say yes.
What Makes a Pitch Stand Out
From my perspective as a podcast host, the best pitches are simple.
They show:
• You’ve listened to the show
• You understand the audience
• You have a clear, relevant idea
And importantly…
They make it easy to say yes.
Because behind the scenes, every episode is an investment of time and energy.
So the clearer and more aligned your pitch is…
The more likely it will be welcomed.
This Is Bigger Than Just Marketing
Yes, podcast guesting can grow your business.
But this goes beyond marketing.
This is about:
• Being part of important conversations
• Sharing perspectives that are currently underrepresented
• Helping others feel seen and understood
And when more women step into that space…
The impact extends far beyond any single episode.
A Final Thought to Reflect On
You don’t need to be the loudest voice.
You don’t need to be everywhere.
But if your work matters…
If your perspective could help someone…
If your experience could shift how someone sees their own path…
Then your voice deserves to be heard.
Not someday.
Now.
