Why Video Feels So Hard for Introverts — And How to Make It Your Easiest Marketing Win
If you’re an introverted business owner, the idea of showing up on video can feel…a lot. Too visible. Too loud. Too exposed.
But as Rachael Bryant and I explore in this episode, video isn’t about being “camera ready” — it’s about being you, in a way that lets your future clients see, hear and feel the value you bring.
When you shift the focus from performing to connecting, video becomes far less intimidating and far more effective. And as Rachael explains beautifully, you already have everything you need to start.
Join me in this episode to learn how to make video feel natural, grounded and genuinely aligned with how you work best — even if it feels daunting right now.

Why Video Works for Thoughtful Entrepreneurs
Video helps people get to know you in a way that written content simply can’t. As Rachael shared, when someone can see your face, your expressions and your natural energy, they feel like they’re meeting the real you — not a curated version of you.
For introverts, this is a huge advantage. You don’t need to be loud or animated. You don’t have to perform. Your calm presence, thoughtful tone and grounded way of communicating are exactly what make your videos compelling and valuable.
People aren’t looking for perfect delivery; they’re looking for someone they can trust. Video accelerates the creation of that trust because it removes the guesswork as they get to experience the real you.
Start With Your Story
The easiest place to begin with video is your own story — what Rachael calls your Hero Origin Story. This isn’t about claiming you’re a superhero. It’s about sharing the lived experiences that shaped your business, your approach and the reason you do what you do.
Because you already know your story, it removes the need to script or memorise anything. And since the early videos you publish won’t be seen by many people, it gives you a gentle space to practise, experiment and get used to being on camera.More importantly, your story is one of the most relatable pieces of content you can create.
The twists, career pivots, challenges, decisions and “ordinary” moments you overlook are often the moments your audience connects with most deeply.
“Your first videos won’t be perfect, and that’s a gift. It means you get to grow without pressure.” – Rachael Bryant
Make Video Feel Comfortable
If sitting in front of the camera feels too intense, don’t force yourself through it. Rachael recommends starting with a simple conversation instead.
Ask someone you trust to ask you questions and let your answers flow naturally. Allow the camera to simply sit in the room as a quiet observer.
This instantly removes pressure and allows your natural voice, expression and confidence to come forward. Most introverts find this approach far easier and the resulting video positions them as warm, knowledgeable and trustworthy.
You don’t have to begin with a polished solo video. Conversations, duets, interviews or collaborations can be the bridge that helps you ease into more visible content.
Repurpose Smarter, Not Harder
One of the most powerful insights Rachael shared is how a single 30-minute conversation can be turned into over 50 pieces of meaningful content.
From one recording, you can create short clips, blog posts, newsletters, carousels, reels, quotes, teaching moments, and behind-the-scenes insights — without needing to create anything new from scratch.
This is especially valuable for introverts who want to stay visible without exhausting themselves. Repurposing allows you to get the most value from your energy by using your words once and distributing them in different formats over time.
It’s not about being everywhere. It’s about letting one moment of clarity support your visibility for weeks.
Keep Your Video Setup Simple
One of the most comforting things Rachael emphasised is that you don’t need professional equipment to get started with video. Your phone camera is more than enough, and good audio matters far more than perfect lighting.
A simple clip-on microphone can elevate the audio quality of your video, without complexity or excessive cost. Tools like CapCut, Descript and DaVinci Resolve keep video editing manageable, even if you’re new to it.
The most important part is clarity — knowing the purpose of your video so your message stays aligned with your business goals.
Simple setups reduce stress. Clear intentions keep you consistent.
Build Confidence Through Support
Confidence doesn’t grow from isolation; it grows through support. Rachael reminded us that even experienced video creators stumble, feel awkward or second-guess themselves on camera.
Surrounding yourself with people who encourage you makes a world of difference. And when the occasional troll appears, see it as a sign your reach is expanding — not as proof you’re doing something wrong. And remember that most trolls are not your ideal clients.
As Rachael put it: “If someone took time out of their day to comment, your video content is working”.
Your job is simply to keep going, learn as you go and stay open to evolving.
A Final Thought to Reflect On
If creating a video has ever felt overwhelming, uncomfortable or “not you,” it doesn’t mean you’re not made for it. It simply means the approach hasn’t supported your energy yet.
So instead of asking:
“How do I get more confident on camera?”
Try asking:
“What would a video look like if it felt natural, simple and true to me?”
That one question can shift everything — helping you create visibility that feels lighter, calmer and completely aligned with the business you want to grow.
